  • OK, so after a year & 4 months, I am back.   I am not making any promises about getting back into blogging or anything, but I'm at least making an attempt.  Actually, the whole reason I am writing today is because I am at school (University of Dayton), and my class let out really early which means I had about an hour to kill before my guitar lesson.

So, what's new with me?  Well...not a whole lot.  I am just over one class from finishing grad school, which is a glorious thought!  I have taken up the guitar in the process - lots of fun but definitely challenging!  I am hoping to also learn the ukelele (you know, the little Hawaiian guitar)...it's much easier & I think it'd be a fun teaching tool.

My biggest semi-recent news is that we got a baby!  Yes, I mean "got"....it's a puppy.  His name is Cody & he is now about 7 and 1/2 months old.  I can't post pics but they're on my facebook, if you get on that.  He is a handful but fun.

I am still working through the life-long process of becoming a good wife & step-mom.  Seems like it takes a LOT to improve a little!!!  We have some goals on the horizon: hopefully in the next year, I will have a Master's degree, we'll be living in a house closer to civilization, and maybe even be expecting a REAL baby!  We'll see...all in God's timing of course.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  Just thought I'd post an update.  Hope everyone is doing well!

  • The Answer to the Riddle...

In my newfound freedom of time I have taken on web surfing as a temporary hobby.  I began to reminisce about all the GREAT choral pieces I sang while competing in PMEA competitions in high school (stuff I SHOULD have sung in college too...but I won't whine about that now).  I found all kinds of videos/recordings of choral pieces that brought back a lot of memories.

Anyway...people always comment about the user name I use for EVERYthing (singme2hvn).  Well....allow me to explain...

Enjoy one of the most beautiful songs ever written!  I'll try to add more "songs from my past" later.

  • SHE'S ALIVE!!!

Haha...so it's July and I haven't written anything since February.  What can I say...I think the blogging thing is a novelty & after awhile it feels like a chore.  I still like reading everyone else's but I just can't get motivated to write on my own!

Let's see...news....well, I'm in my last week of grad school for the summer.  At the end of this week I will have 11 graduate credits, which means I GET A RAISE!!!!  This is VERY exciting because it means....I get to pay for MORE grad school!   Haha....I think it will mean more than that - like paying off our debts and being able to save a little more too.  We have gotten into Dave Ramsey on the radio...this man is phenomenal - he has really indoctrinated us with the desire to be debt-free and stay that way.  What an awesome legacy to be able to leave for our children someday.  We have a long way to go but we are just going to take it a step at a time.

This has been a really great summer - a lot less eventful because there's no wedding to plan!  We've been to 4 weddings so far though, and we'll finish off the summer with my sister's wedding at the end of August.  We may stop at Cedar Point on the way, which is very exciting!

Oh my gosh, now I know why I don't blog anymore....because I'm BORING!  So...before you yawn again, I'm ending this entry.  Have a great day...month...year....I dunno when I'll write again.

  • Whew, what a weekend!  My poor parents had an entirely-too-eventful trip out here....about 2 hours into it they blew out a tire & tore another one.  So after 2 hours of tire replacement, they got back on the road.  They arrived around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning with a surprise: my sister, niece & nephew.  We've had all kinds of fun getting little projects done around here, & seeing just how many people could fill our little place!

Anyway, they are here till early tomorrow morning.  Our living room is all decorated & looks awesome...curtains & everything, woohoo!  Blinds are in all the windows, doorknobs in the doors....I'm sure there's more but I'm blanking right now.

I'm glad I have a day off school tomorrow to enjoy getting a few more things done.  Craig has been such a trooper with all this family around!  I have an amazing husband!!!!

About Me

  • Hey, I'm Debbie. I'm 25, a graduate of Cedarville University, and an elementary music teacher in Centerville, OH. I was recently married to the most amazing man in the world! It didn't take long after I met him to realize that he was the man of my dreams, and even though it hasn't been very long, I LOVE being Mrs. Craig Whitlock!!!
